For three months, Paulo Coelho embarked on a nearly seven-hundred-kilometer journey, walking from southern France to the city of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The Pilgrimage tells the story of a man’s quest to unlock the sacred mysteries of magic, recounting his  unexpected encounter with an enigmatic Italian guide and his profound mystical experiences, known as The Practices of RAM. The narrative follows his pilgrimage along one of the world’s three sacred paths: the Road of Santiago.
This book delves deeply into Paulo’s personal battle between light and shadow within himself–a battle every individual must face against their own arrogance, one that can only be fought with humility and the acceptance of one’s weaknesses. In the end, we discover that the extraordinary is always found in the ordinary and simple ways of everyday people.
The Pilgrimage laid the foundation for Paulo Coelho’s later masterpiece, The Alchemist, which would go on to become an international bestseller

“The Pilgrimage is a precious gift bestowed upon us all. The wonder of this book lies in its simplicity –it doesn’t seek to teach, but rather offers a promise: with your own steps, you are entirely capable of forging your Path, achieving your dream, and conquering your sword. Faith and enthusiasm shine through in Paulo Coelho’s writing.”

“As I followed the road, I realized it was high time I fulfilled my dream of becoming a writer. In the small village of Cebreiro, I understood that I was engaged in a battle for my personal legend, held back by my fear of failure. It was then that I promised myself to leave everything behind and fight for my dreams.”

The extraordinary lies in the path of ordinary people.

The good fight is the one that’s fought in the name of our dreams.

We must never stop dreaming. Dreams provide nourishment for the soul, just as a meal does for the body.
